Recycling 101

What can go in your curbside recycling bin?

  • Plastics 1 & 2 bottles and jugs

  • Cardboard

  • Paper

  • Glass bottles and jars

  • Metal cans: Aluminum, steel, and tin.

Tips: Mix all items together – no separation required. Empty all bottles, jugs and cans. For plastic bottles, empty, crush and reattach lids.

What can go to store drop-off recycling?

  • ·Grocery and produce bags

  • ·Bread bags

  • ·Some plastic mailers (example: Amazon bubble envelopes)

  • ·Newspaper bags

  • ·Zipper sandwich bags

  • ·Plastic pouches and air pillows (used in shipping)

Tips: Look for the How2Recycle Store Drop-Off label on flexible plastics made of plastics #2 and #4. Many How2Recycle retail members have Store Drop-Off collection bins in their stores, including Target and Walmart. For more information about store drop  off recycling visit how2recycle.info .

What can go into our cap collection bins?

  • Medicine bottle caps

  • Caps with recycling numbers 2, 4, and 5

  • Butter, cream cheese, coffee can lids

  • Flip-top caps (ketchup, mustard)

  • Spray paint caps

Tips: Soap and lotion pumps are not acceptable. Trigger sprayers are not acceptable. Please make sure caps are clean and free of syrups, food, or any other contents.
